Can you do better? I don’t know why I’m writing this, I’m in the perfect relationship…. I just can’t imagine it being any better!! Buuuut, one of my oldest friends is a guy, and he’s under the delusion that I should be looking for something better. If you think you can top this, then by all means, drop me a note – but before you even contemplate replying – let me tell you what you’re up against:
I’ve been dating this wonderful man for a while now.
He’s so sweet and so responsive, if I text him right now, there’s a 60% chance I’ll get a return text sometime in the next 4.5 days.
If I and leave a message, there’s a strong 10% chance he’ll answer, and if I leave a voicemail, I’m almost assured a back sometime within the next 7 days.
If we make plans to go out to dinner tonight, there’s a 12% chance he’ll show. But he’s soooo sweet, he’ll text me an hour and a half after we were supposed to meet up to let me know he’s got some business to take care of, a friend in need or an animla that needs medical attention AGAIN.
And he’s soooo successful. I’m not sure what he does, because it’s an absolute secret to everyone but him – but I’m sure it’s really important, because he drives a nice car and has nice clothes. And NO, I’m sure it’s totally legit, otherwise, why would he go out of his way to hide it? And no, I have no idea where he works, how to reach him at work, etc – even though he was sure to get all of that info from me in the first week.
I love when we spend quiet evenings at home together, we’re probably done so once. Sure, he won’t tell me where he lives, but has full intimate knowledge of my living situation, and has refuses to spend the night with me. I’m just assuming he hasn’t given me any clue where he lives because he’s probably embarrassed about not tending to the yard, or has some dirty dishes that need cleaning first. That MUST be it, otherwise he wouldn’t change the subject everytime I get even close to asking where in the bay area he lives. And before you ask, of course he’s not married, living with mom, living with another girl, etc – I mean, if he were, why would he be dating me??
What I also love about my sweet boy is how good he is to my family. One time, on one of our very few actual dates together, he actually came to a family function (which I thought was quite the stretch since we were just dating, not something I was readily expecting), and he really gelled well with my family, even offering to come back and buddy up with my dad. Dad still asks about him, but dad just doesn’t understand that my man is so successful and busy doing whatever it is he does, and won’t discuss with any of us.
My loving man is sooo dedicated to his work. Sometimes, he gets s in the middle of the night, and has to run off to a last minute 2am meeting with ‘clients’. Boy, those clients are demanding. But that’s why my man is so great – he’s totally devoted! Too bad he's just not devoted to me.
Sometimes, he’ll even text me to tell me he loves me. I totally believe him, and see us making a life together… seeing as how I’ve only actually seen him a dozen times or so in the last 6ish months.
But, back to this ad…. One of my old friends seems to think there’s guys out there that can do better. I know, right?? He must be smokin’….. BUUUUUTTT, my friend won’t leave me alone about this…
So I’ve told you a little about my fairy tale relationship that I’m currently in and if for some reason you think you can do better, I’d sure be interested in hearing what you’ve got to say.
